Sennheiser GSP 670 Wireless Gaming Headset Review: PREMIUM Audio! Fast and Sturdy! NO Cable!

PDF Click to download. ZIP Click to download. Special Editions. The Sennheiser GSP is a truly luxurious and comprehensive wireless gaming headset that really sings, whether for music, film, or gaming. That Bluetooth compatibility means the GSP can be used with just about any device you can throw at it, from PCs, to consoles, smartphones and tablets.

Although not the best gaming headset around, a generous roster of controls and fundamentally impressive sound quality, combined with a great feel and weight make an argument for its premium price. The headset's overall look is probably the aspect with which I'm least enamored.

With this many angles and surfaces, you don't need any additional details. I'm all for this growing headset market trend for customization SteelSeries' swappable headbands and plates for its Arctis-series headsets have really kicked things off. Fortunately for your head, the GSP 's physical looks are the result of careful choices made in the name of comfort. At g, it's on the heavy side for a gaming headset, but discomfort simply isn't an issue with these cans.

This is thanks to the mechanical outline of the headband and metal single-sided yoke, combined with an adjustable caliper pressure system at the top of the headband. By adjusting two sliders at each side of the headband, you can control precisely how much pressure the earcups exert on your delicate cranium, which is fantastically handy for anyone with an especially large or small head.

Sennheiser didn't skimp on construction materials here either. The memory foam and leatherette contact point covers are top-of-the-line, conveying value from the second we pulled the headset out of its box. The headband's generous padding at the top of the head did its job, keeping me comfortable, for hours. This kind of super-soft padding tends to hold its shape and resistance quite well over time too, so we expect a pretty uniform comfort experience for the first few months of wear.

With the right adjustments, the earcups never dug in but felt firmly attached enough that I could move my head around comfortably without the headset shifting position. In short, it has a mic mute built in so that you're automatically muted when pushing the arm up and back to broadcasting when it's down. The satisfying click felt when doing this really tells of the construction quality. I defy you not to move it up and down aimlessly, just enjoying the sensation, when you first use the headset.

A newer feature on the Senny cans is the inclusion of separate chat and game mix controls on the left earcup. I actively miss the chat mix thumb wheel of Arctis-brand headsets when we use rivals, so it's great to see similar control schemes adopted elsewhere. If the game volume swells especially loud, during cut scenes for example, you can make a quick adjustment without having to delve into any options menus or alt-tab out.

Likewise, if you're getting sick of your Discord buddies hollering nonsense into your earholes while you're the only one left alive in your co-op game of choice, one twist of the chat volume sends them to oblivion.

The same neodymium magnet drivers articulate the sound, and the response is noticeably powerful at the bass end more so than previous Sennheiser models, like the Game Onewhich articulated the details beautifully in both open-backed and closed-backed variants.Wireless Gaming. Learn More. The Sennheiser GSP are one of the best gaming headsets you can get at the moment. They don't look pretty, but they offer wonderfully balanced audio, industry leading mic quality and a super comfortable fit. The only downside is that they're seriously expensive.

The other being SteelSeries, which tends to make wonderfully discrete headsets that look a lot like regular headphones.

But they are well made and tick all the right boxes when it comes to functionality. The pairing process is wonderfully simple, just turn them on and pair via Bluetooth, or using the dongle to establish a superior low latency connection.

Related: Best Gaming Headset The controls are all sensibly placed with the main mic and game audio volume controls sitting on the right bud, with a custom programmable key sitting just below them that can be used to turn on 7.

The padding and adjustable headband also make it quick and easy to get a comfortable fit, a fact aided by the fact they only weigh g. I tended to get closer to hours using the low latency connection. My only other minor quibble with the design is that it uses a micro-USB, not USB-C charge input, which is a bit of a faff considering most hardware has moved to the newer standard. This may put off some regular, non-audio conscious buyers as the most noticeable difference is how controlled the low end is.

Unlike competing sets, such as the Arctis Pro which push the low end to the point it can wonder intrude on other parts of the sound, the Sennheiser GSP keep it under permanent control. Tonal balance is great, with every part of the audio taking a distinct space.

The 7. Despite not having true ANC I never had any background noise creeping in. The only time I suffered any audio issues was when playing games at very high volumes. Here some sibilance could creep in and high frequency sounds, like gunfire, could begin to distort. But this only occurred when the volume was incredibly high. The mic is another stand out feature and one of the biggest differentiators between the GSP and Arctis Pro.

The Arctis Pro sounds great, but like most SteelSeries headsets its mic was a little weak, and had a tendency to distort.I purchased a Sennheiser GSP wireless gaming headset recently, and I cannot get stereo output to work on it. It connects via a 2.

This headset and dongle have some unique features. The headset has two volume knobs, and two audio channels. The idea is that you can tell your voice chat software, like Discord, to output to the "Communication Audio" channel, and so you can control the volume from Discord with the secondary knob, independently from the "Main Audio" channel.

Under linux, the GSA 70 shows up with eight profiles in PulseAudio, being each possible combination of "Multichannel", "Mono", and off, for both the output and input. You can see these profiles in the 'pacmd' output below. All these profiles are mono only, I have tested this. In Windows, the "Communication Audio" device shows up as a headset, containing both headset output, and microphone input, and is mono only. It may be that linux is only using this device, and not the "Main Audio".

All the above information applies to the headset as well when plugged in. It still has two audio devices in Windows, and is still mono only under linux. The names of the devices are just different. I've included screenshots of how the dongle appears in Windows, and command outputs from linux.

I just received my GSP yesterday and guess what! Same issue! I spent 11 hours trying to figure out wtf is wrong with this headset, and I somehow managed to fix the issue. Here's the thing: both outputs are seen by lsusb, so the issue is not at the USB driver layer. My first thought when seeing this was "wait, what if ALSA only loads the first interface it finds Communication Audio and then ignores the rest?

My initial thoughts were spot-on. If the load order of the USB device's interfaces is reversed, stereo output and mono input mic both work like a charm. I don't know why this solves the issue.I used to have a really good pair of headphones that were gifted to me by a friend. Due to the wandering, sticky hands of a toddler, those headphones have long passed away.

It was brilliant, then, when I got some new ones shipped to me for review. I just never really got around to buying a proper headset. Man, I have been missing out. Because modern televisions have shite in-built speakers. The Sennheiser GSP headphones are premium in price and production.

Sounds are richer with every little nuance being delivered to my ear holes. I heard things in games that I never heard before. You get the idea. And given that I normally play with just my TVs speakers, I was losing a lot of the immersion that comes with excellent sound design. I played a few shooters and found that I had to turn the headset volume down.

Maybe I should invest in a carry case…. This is tedious, and so I typically have my phone playing my Spotify playlist through the headphones that came with the phone.

I saw this review job as an opportunity to put in some time with the product and keep my mind sane during the bores of administrative tasks. Billy Joel sounds amazing anyway, but that guy sounds even better inside the GSP And yes, every song sounds better. The bass was deep where it mattered, and those big sexy hooks that Billy Joel is known for gave me goosebumps. BJ is a classic. Of course, I played some of The Killers and it all sounded sweet. The mic did come in handy, mind you.

I felt like a call centre worker when a call came through. The point is, the microphone is good and I was able to even do a few conference calls using it, leaving my hands free to play Call of Duty Mobile. Thankfully that was not the case. The headset itself is extremely comfortable to wear, even for longer-than-usual sessions. I spent one day in the office from 8 AM through to 5 PM with the headset on for most of that time.

I took them off for toilet breaks, obviously, but I never felt the need to give my head, neck or ears a rest. What I did notice is that I completely blocked off the rest of the world when I sat with the headphones on. It was just me and Billy. Him singing, me tapping my feet with the occasional whistling solo. World tour dates still to be announced.
